Cilic qualifies for ATP Finals, Djokovic and Murray advance

Murray, runner-up in Paris a year ago, will next meet Tomas Berdych, who beat Frenchman Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-3, as he bids to end long-time rival Djokovic's 122-week run at the top of the rankings.

Djokovic's formidable record of 14 consecutive victories over Cilic certainly boded well, but the 12-time Grand Slam victor, who beat Gilles Muller earlier in the week before battling back from a set down to see off the spirited challenge of Grigor Dimitrov in a third-round clash yesterday (4 November), started the match in sluggish fashion.

Murray faces French 13th seed Lucas Pouille later as the Briton continues his assault on Djokovic s number one ranking.

That match follows straight after Murray and Berdych's battle in Paris. Richard Gasquet suffered a 6-2 3-6 7-5 defeat to America's Jack Sock in front of his home crowd, while Sock's compatriot John Isner also progressed following a 5-4 6-7 (4/7) 6-3 win over Jan-Lennard Struff.

Cilic converted his sixth match point to beat Goffin 6-3, 7-6 (11-9) at the indoor tournament, giving him a spot in the quarterfinals and one of the remaining two berths in the eight-man finals.

"My goal, obviously this year, is to try and finish it as strong as possible and the best way to do it is to concentrate on myself". "I made double faults, things like that, but it was because I want to do well", Tsonga said.

Novak Djokovic had treatment on a knee problem in the second set but eventually subdued Dimitrov who grew frustrated as the match went on.

Gameiro's second goal to make it 3-1 just before halftime came from an excellent headed pass by Antoine Griezmann. On Saturday, Real were stunned just 6 minutes into the match, as Alaves took the lead through Deyverson.

"In some moments of the match, I could have done a bit better", said Goffin, who needed to win in Paris to qualify for the ATP Finals.

Their career head to head also includes the 2010 Davis Cup Quarterfinals between Serbia and Croatia, with Djokovic sweeping Cilic during the round robin, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

"I played some good points in the tie-break and he played some bad ones".

Djokovic who had held the world title since 2014, crashed out of the Paris Masters in straight sets to Marin Cilic earlier on Friday. Though on top on the scoreboard, this was far from comfortable stuff against the world number 17.

1 if he wins the tournament and Djokovic — victor for the past three years — does not reach the final.

And he produced a brilliant performance to record an 18th successive win that sets up a semi-final against either Milos Raonic or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - and victory in that last-four encounter will take him to No 1.

After an impressive first set against Luxembourg's Muller, Djokovic was less impressive in the second but saved a break point in the fourth game and went on to win 6-3 6-4.
