Suspect Arrested In Ambush Killing Of San Antonio Police Officer

The police shooting in San Antonio was one of four incidents in which police officers were shot Sunday. The sergeant is expected to survive.

"This case, although we've made an arrest, is far from over", McManus said.

A St. Louis police officer was shot and wounded Sunday night. He was released from a hospital Monday.

The man walked up to the patrol auto driver's side window and shot the officer in the head, McManus said.

San Antonio police commanders are encouraging officers to patrol with partners as the manhunt continues for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a detective.

St. Louis police Chief Sam Dotson declined to name the 46-year-old officer on his force who was shot in the face Sunday evening, but said he is a married father of three who has been with the department for about 20 years. The detective was shot as he sat in his squad auto Sunday after making a traffic stop.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus has said he doesn't believe the suspect in the shooting had any connection to the motorist initially pulled over by Marconi; instead, police believed Marconi was targeted for his uniform.

National insurance 'stealth tax' of £200 slips below radar
The rise was announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond in his Autumn Statement speech today (23 November). The standard rate of insurance premium tax (IPT) is to increase to 12% from 10% from June 2017.

Police later found the auto seen on surveillance video when Marconi was killed. Police have not released the race of the officer he shot.

David Pughes, interim police chief in Dallas, urged his officers Monday to partner in pairs.

Police have not said why the unidentified suspect appeared at the station or who he spoke to while there.

"If someone's brazen enough to shoot a police officer in a cruiser, then he would kill anybody". Most killings of police officers are carried out by white men, and most people shot and killed by police are white, said Craig W. Floyd, president of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Police reported early Monday that the suspect was later killed in a shootout with police. The officer in St. Louis was, like Marconi, the victim of what authorities have described as an ambush-style attack.

"Based on the actions of this individual prior to the shooting, we have a fairly good video documentation of what he was doing", McManus said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the slaying of Marconi a "horrific act of violence". Police say Marconi was killed specifically because he was a law enforcement officer.
