Wike declares 3 days fasting for Rivers rerun

Ahead of Saturday's parliamentary rerun elections in Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC, were yesterday, locked in a war of words over alleged plans for violence by one another.

The Commission hereby restates its determination to conclude the elections in Rivers State in a free, fair, and transparent manner on the said Saturday, 10 December 2016.

"We, therefore, call on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Director General of State Security Services, Lawal Daura to, as a matter of urgency, restore all the security detail of Governor Nyesom Wike and to secure Government House, Port Harcourt, Rivers State".

"This is not acceptable and if anything happens to the governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, his family or any of our party member or supporter in Rivers State, Rivers people and indeed all Nigerians should hold Chibuike Amaechi and his party leaders responsible".

The APC national secretary said that thugs must not be allowed to steal the votes of the Rivers electorate on Saturday.

Tai is among areas where violence scuttled the holding of polls in the restive Rivers State south of the country. The people of ASALGA go and tell them that the Almighty God who said to King Nebuchadnezzar the end has come, say to them, the end has come.

Stocks under Review: Monster Beverage Corporation (NASDAQ:MNST)
Over the past 50 days, Monster Beverage Corporation stock was -10.34% off of the high and 11.70% removed from the low. For the past 5 years, the company's revenue has grown 15.9%, while the company's earnings per share has grown 20%.

Meanwhile, the APC has accused Wike of gathering arms to be used during the elections.

However, the Commission condemns, in very strong terms, the relentless false allegations, provocative and risky comments being made by some political actors, especially the Governor of River State, Mr. NyesomWike against the Commission, all of which are capable of inciting people to commit violence acts that could derail the election. In Edo State, the APC in collaboration with INEC and the Security Agencies postponed the Election on the pretext of security threats in order to flawless their rigging plans which they successfully implemented during the Poll.

When asked that PDP and Governor Wike alleged the Police and INEC in Rivers state have connived to manipulate election results in favour of APC, Amaechi said, "If Governor Wike and the PDP have justifiable evidence, let them present it to the general public and stop blackmailing me or INEC and Police".

The governor declared Wednesday to Friday as fasting days for the December 10 the rerun elections would hold and urged the people of the state to use the three days to pray for peaceful and credible elections.

APC said nobody was after the governor, arguing that he was only afraid of the monumental loss that awaited his party should the election be conducted in an atmosphere where security is fool-proof.
