Iran says Astana talks prelude to definitive solution

Jeffrey Feltman, U.N. political affairs chief, briefed the 15-member council on the second U.N. report, saying there were no reports of nuclear-related or ballistic missile-related violations of the council resolution.

On numerous occasions Trump has called the nuclear agreement a "really, really bad deal", and has said that he may want to renegotiate its terms after he is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States on Friday.

A United Nations report says Iran has not received any unauthorized transfers of nuclear-related items since an global nuclear agreement was implemented a year ago, but Tehran may have violated some provisions on conventional arms transfers and travel restrictions.

"It is imperative that its participants, the United Nations and the broader global community continue to support the full implementation of this historic multilateral agreement for its full duration", he said. Instead of steadily expanding, Iran's nuclear program faces strict limitations and is subject to the most intrusive inspection and verification program ever negotiated to monitor a nuclear program.

European Union and British officials have this week said they would not support any renegotiation of the deal, which places strict curbs on Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for a lifting of worldwide sanctions.

"These are mostly slogans, and I don't think that when he enters the White House, something will happen".

Due to Iran's objections the USA were not invited to a meeting in Astana on Syria, said the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani.
