Liverpool: Klopp takes the blame for Wolves loss

Jurgen Klopp complained about the wind after the game but Southampton played in the same conditions and put in a great defensive display.

Shane Long struck a stoppage-time victor as Southampton upset Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield Wednesday to become the first side to reach the League Cup final without conceding after expertly manning the barricades in their last-four second leg clash.

Liverpool have never lost three games in a row under Jürgen Klopp.

But once again, a young, under-strength Liverpool side failed to deliver in a cup tie.

Liverpool only won one game since the turn of the year and that came in a replay against League Two outfit Plymouth Argyle but, other than that, it's been a January to forget for Reds fans.

Long and co now travel to Wembley on February 26 where they will face Manchester United.

"We will enjoy the moment but we have a game on Saturday against Arsenal in the FA Cup and then life goes on at Swansea on Tuesday".

The nervy affair, which was the second leg of the EFL cup semi-final between the two teams, was settled by a superb Shane Long strike in extra time.

Hopefully, the goal against Liverpool can spark the start of a good spell for Long going into Ireland's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Wales in March because he's got to be full of confidence after this.

Carmelo Anthony discusses no-trade clause, criticism from Phil Jackson associate
Neither Jackson nor general manager Steve Mills addressed the situation with Anthony on Monday, the star forward said. ESPN first reported that Jackson and Anthony met Tuesday afternoon prior to the Knicks traveling to Boston.

Liverpool have taken just two points from their last three league games, and now sit in fourth spot in the Premier League table, a full 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.

"We did really well, we can not create more chances than we did in the second half, we were dominant".

He moved to Wolves before joining Burnley in July 2012 and scored a penalty as the Clarets lost 3-1 to Southampton in the Premier League in October.

The home side may well opt to make some changes of their own, having played late on Wednesday before an early Saturday kick off, but I have no doubts that they will be keen on fielding a strong side against us with a comfortable mid-table finish in the league looking likely. "We are a good footballing team, that's why this happens".

Shane Long's victor against Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Wednesday was only his third goal this season. I don't know about the Origi moment, but if it was a foul that makes it even harder to bear.

Klopp added: "For each single performance maybe there is an explanation, but I'm not sure that we should look for it".

"When he [Sturridge] plays and he does not score you are basically down to 10 men because he does not offer anything else", Carragher said on Sky Sports.
