Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco receives 'huge offer' from Chinese Super League

Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco receives 'huge offer' from Chinese Super League

During the holiday season, Brian McBride can only hope Sebastian Giovinco remains in MLS long-term.

That was the message from Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney on Wednesday in addressing comments from Sebastian Giovinco's agent regarding the Italian forward being courted by a Chinese Super League team.

The Toronto Sun's Kurtis Larson reports that Toronto FC has not been made aware of any Chinese interest.

Giovinco has excelled in MLS, winning the league's MVP award in his first season and guiding Toronto to the MLS Cup final, where they suffered defeat on penalties to the Seattle Sounders, last year.

Giovinco's agent, Andrea D'Amico, told Sky Sports Italia that there is an offer from a Chinese club.

"He received a huge offer from China".

Neither Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas attended the conference.

It appears Sebastian Giovinco's unprecedented production since joining Toronto FC has caught the eye of suitors in China.

There was no mention of the Chinese offer when Giovinco met reporters at Toronto's training camp Tuesday. But it won't be easy to make Toronto let him go.

A source also confirmed that the MLS league office, which holds all players' contracts for the objective of worldwide transfers, has not been contacted about a potential deal. "I say I am happy, I like it here".

Such a player would no doubt catch the eye of the Chinese League, where several teams have been throwing big money around in recent months to lure big-name talent from overseas.

Chinese clubs have been opening the vault of late to acquire foreign talent.
