Burburry Apologized For Mistaking Riz Ahmed & Dev Patel At The BAFTAs

Recently, Dev lost the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role award to Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the 74th Golden Globes. Riz Ahmed is a British actor, rapper of Pakistani origin, who has featured in films such as Jason Bourne, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

After deleting the image, Burberry re-shared it with a different caption.

Dev Patel and Viola Davis were among the award winners at this year's British Academy Film Awards.

And, while Burberry were quick to swiftly delete the faux pas and replace it with a correct picture of Patel, it didn't go unnoticed.

While some Twitterati had a field day trolling the brand, others found it extremely racist and asked for an apology. "We apologise unreservedly for the incorrectly titled pictures of Dev Patel and Riz Ahmed posted late last night", it reads.

Patel won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Lion, which also took home Best Adapted Screenplay at the annual awards ceremony.
