Givenchy Officially Appoints Clare Waight Keller

Propensity for ruffles aside, it's an interesting choice for Givenchy, given the differences in Tisci and Waight Keller's design records. Her appointment makes her the first female director of the Givenchy brand.

Givenchy named Clare Waight Keller as its new artistic director on Thursday, making her the first woman at the creative helm of the French fashion house founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952.

With 65 years of material to sort through, Waight Keller certainly won't be low on inspiration. The Business of Fashion writes that her success at Chloé "was rooted in her ability to deliver wearable, desirable garments-and perhaps most importantly, high-margin shoes and handbags-that moved at retail".

Clare Waight Keller certainly has a lot to look forward to.

Givenchy, owned by luxury group LVMH, first announced the news in a post on its Instagram account and said Waight Keller would oversee all product lines, including women's and men's ready-to-wear, accessories and haute couture.

Big changes are happening over at Givenchy, with the announcement of their new artistic director.

Everyone is eager to see the creative work Clare brings to the table during her tenure at Givenchy.
