Sukhoi MKI 30 crashes in Rajasthan; pilots escaped unhurt

A Sukhoi-30MKI fighter plane crashed in Shivkar Kudia village in Barmer, Rajasthan, hours after an IAF Chetak helicopter crash-landed in Allahabad.

Both pilots of the jet ejected safely and are said to have sustained no injuries.

The plane was on a routine sortie and was about to land at the Uttarlai Air Force Base, at a village called Devaniyon ki Dhani, when the crash took place around 2 pm.

One Narayan Ram, his daughter in law and minor grandson were injured in the crash.

The police officials and rescue teams are now at the spot. An inquiry has been ordered by the air force. No casualties were reported in the incident. The operational reliability improvement programme is pursued regularly with Russian Original Equipment Manufacturer, he had told the Lok Sabha.
