WWE SmackDown: Randy Orton beats AJ Styles to enter WrestleMania

WWE SmackDown: Randy Orton beats AJ Styles to enter WrestleMania

Last week, we had none, now there are two.

The Road to WrestleMania isn't always a conventional one for numerous WWE superstars and the main eventers on SmackDown Live are finding that out the hard way. The two have been going back and forth on who should face Bray Wyatt, with Bryan in Orton's corner and Shane backing Styles. This week, WWE SmackDown chose to have a fight between the two.

As he addressed Styles, Royal Rumble victor Orton appeared on the titantron.

Before the match, Ellsworth tries to apply the transitive property to his chances.

Somehow, this is the first time that AJ Styles and Randy Orton are squaring off. Nikki quickly tosses Carmella to the floor and tags in Cena.

After lengthy verbals, Miz told Cena he knew he was jealous of him and that he wasn't "Super Cena" anymore. Carmella orders him into the ring and pushes him into Cena, who drops him with a Blue Thunder driver. Plus, John Cena and Nikki Bella will face off against James Ellsworth and Carmella. Cena locks in the STF and Ellsworth taps. The Miz and Maryse interrupted the match. Miz says what he just saw disrespects true love. Maryse tells Nikki to "break that, bitch". He says AJ should probably just run.

- Curt Hawkins was in the ring and called out Dean Ambrose after getting embarrassed by him last week. This won't end well. Hawkins charges Ambrose and gets laid out. Ambrose then grabbed a mic and demanded Baron Corbin come down to the ring. Ambrose knows he won't come out, though. Corbin appeared on the screen and said he's not stupid. Ambrose hits dirty deeds to Hawkins on the floor and then heads backstage to find Corbin.

Mojo Rawley announces that he is the first entrant in the third annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Rawley said he wanted to have himself a WrestleMania moment, after watching his good friend and former tag team partner Zach Ryder get his past year. Rawley asks if that is why he doesn't have one. Corbib throws a security guard in his way and then crushes him in the ribs with a metal pipe. WWE officials finally intervene.

Man Shot Dead In Greenpoint Landlord-Tenant Dispute, Police Say
According to investigators, Barrett barricaded himself in his apartment after shooting the victim outside. The victim was crossing Meeker Avenue mid-block when the driver hit him, police said.

Alexa Bliss Talks: Alexa Bliss and Mickie James make their way to the ring. This gives Mickie James the pinfall on a silver platter, but Alexa Bliss tags herself in and pins Lynch so she cold get the credit. As far we know now, Becky Lynch, Mickie James, and Natalya are going to be involved, but there are a few more women that we are yet to be confirmed will be in this match, such as Carmella, Naomi (if healthy), and the ever elusive Eva Marie. Alexa says she never promised that. Bryan doesn't agree with Orton's actions, but since he and Shane disagree on who should get the shot. They all argue and Bryan comes out to try and save this mess. This is going to turn into a Fatal Four way. SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan then announced Alexa Bliss against the SmackDown women's roster for the title at WrestleMania 33.

If you've been paying attention, Natalya isn't really a face here.

This means that Carmella will be involved - but could also open the door for an Eva Marie return after months away, or for Naomi to return from injury.

AJ Styles has always been a rumored WrestleMania 33 match ... and now the seeds have officially been planted to make it happen.

The two circle each other in the ring. Orton sets for the RKO, but Styles hits a PELE to counter. Orton follows with an exploder suplex and AJ rolls to the floor. To commercial we go.

After the break, Orton breaks free of a leg hold. Orton hit some clotheslines and then a huge full nelson slam for the near fall. AJ kicks out of the pin. Styles hits the Ushigoroshi and looks for the Styles clash. Orton was able to take the upper hand after a while, but Styles slipped out of a superplex and regained the advantage.

Crews took a bitter blow to the throat though, before he got his eggs scrambled by the Showstopper that allowed Ziggler to pick up the win.
