David Letterman replaces Neil Young at Rock Hall show

Courtesy of Rock & Roll Hall of FameThe enduring artistic legacy of the late rapper Tupac Shakur will be honored when Snoop Dogg inducts him into the Rock and Roll Hall Fame tonight in Brooklyn, New York.

Instead, Journey's current lead singer, Arnel Pineda, sang three classic Journey favorites: Separate Ways, Lights and Don't Stop Believin'. "These guys in Pearl Jam were something more than a band", he said. "They reminded me of the "Star Wars" cantina band only with lots more hair", Harrison recalled.

Pearl Jam's first album Ten came out in late 1991, and they were the crowd favourites at the Barclays Center in NY.

Folk singer Joan Baez was inducted by singer songwriter Jackson Browne. "Joan Baez, she was staggering", he said.

Journey fans were understandably disappointed that Steve Perry skipped out on a long-awaited performance. During the latter two Baez was joined by Mary Chapin Carpenter and The Indigo Girls. The band performed "Roundabout" and "Owner of a Lonely Heart".

Earlier in the night, Snoop Dogg appeared on stage to induct late hip-hop artist, poet, and actor Tupac Shakur, calling the "California Love" emcee "the greatest rapper of all time, but first and foremost the homeboy". It's a fact he never shied away from. "He wore it like a badge of honour".

Thompson made the race a lot closer than people would have expected earlier this year, said his campaign manager Chris Pumpelly. She was for public schools and for Medicaid expansion, key issues in small towns trying to protect schools and rural hospitals.

Accepting his Award for Musical Excellent, Rodgers dedicated it to all the artists he had produced and worked with behind the scenes over the years, saying, "This award is incredible to me because of all the people who have allowed me to join their lives and their bands". "Yo, it's $3 billion dollars now".

"I'm just a kid from western Pennsylvania", he continued. "I just wanted to have one hit record". Lenny Kravitz brought in a formidable backup choir to help him perform "When Doves Cry" and "The Cross".

Perhaps the most anticipated speech of the night was David Letterman's induction of Pearl Jam.

According to a statement from the hall, Young "is regrettably no longer able to induct Pearl Jam" due to illness and is "thrilled" that former TV talk-show host Letterman will substitute. They're true living cultural organisms. "They'd recognize injustice and stand up to it", he said. Whether it was human rights. Whether it was poverty. They didn't let it wash over them. They'd return numerous times in the years that followed on their support tours for Yield, Riot Act and their self-titled record which also got the Live on Letterman treatment in 2006. "Hi, Harry. My name is Eddie Vedder and I'm a friend of your dad's. Try it out, make some noise", Vedder's letter read. Styles is also hoping to nab the number one spot this Friday, ending Ed Sheeran's epic 13-week reign on the singles chart with Shape Of You. "One of the sweetest hug you can ever get from one of my heroes and silent means the world to me. waited 35 years for this moment. thank you Almighty God!" Over the weekend, Pearl Jam posted a photo of it on Instagram with the caption "Jeff's RRHOF shirt".

Pearl Jam then reunited with Dave Krusen to perform "Alive", while Matt Cameron returned to the kit for "Given To Fly" and "Better Man".
