Despite goals and win, Ronaldo still wanted more

A popular football fan page on Facebook on Friday shared a rather intriguing news clip, reporting that Ronaldo has scored his 100th goal in the world;s premier club tournament, the UEFA Champions League, helping his club Barcelona in the process. "We probably could have scored one or two more goals, but we're very happy". "That is how ambitious he is".

Ronaldo's second-half goals allowed him to end a six-game scoring drought in the Champions League, and kept Real on track to defend their European title.

"We've taken a big step in the tie, but there's still the return leg to come against great opposition, who have shown that they're one of the favourites to win the competition", he told reporters.

It could have been a higher score and Real captain Sergio Ramos had the ball in the net late on, but the goal was disallowed.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Gareth Bale was withdrawn from the 2-1 win at Bayern Munich due to an injury concern.

Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer denied Ronaldo and Gareth Bale with fine stops and the tie firmly swung in Real's favour in the 61st minute when Javi Martinez was sent off following two quick-fire yellow cards.

"Before I jumped on the pitch, I thought it was going to be a tough match, that Bayern would get into the game", Ronaldo said.

Bayern against Madrid was one of the most talked about games of the Champions League quarter-finals.

"We controlled it in the first half, but didn't make the most of our chances".

Devastating new poll: Majority of Americans now say Trump can't keep promises
The president's latest approval rating was around 40 percent from April 5-9 compared with 42 percent two months ago. Pollsters noted his drop in trust was spread across such demographics as men, women, millennials and baby boomers.

Neuer made two remarkable saves on shots by Ronaldo and Karim Benzema a few minutes apart toward the end of the match in Munich.

Bayern should have been 2-0 up at the break, but Arturo Vidal, who headed the hosts into a first-half lead, skied a penalty.

Vidal also squandered the chance to put his team 2-0 up before the break after he missed a controversial penalty kick when he blasted the spot-kick over the crossbar and into the stands.

That goal, his 97 in the Champions League, meant Ronaldo now has 100 club goals in all UEFA competitions, a record.

Despite Rummenigge's optimism, Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti was more cautious, hoping both Lewandowski and defender Mats Hummels, who missed the home defeat with an ankle injury, will be fit for the return.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not quite been his usual ridiculous goalscoring self this season, with questions, slowly but surely, being asked over the Real Madrid superstar's powers waning as age finally catches up. "But I'm happy with the substitution and with Marco Asensio's performance".

Zidane did not say whether he will rest Ronaldo for the team's away game at relegation-threatened Sporting Gijon tomorrow in the Spanish league.

Antoine Griezmann's disputed first-half penalty gave Atletico Madrid a slender 1-0 victory over Leicester City in their quarterfinal first-leg clash at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.
