Trump drops China bashing during warm Xi summit

In an editorial, the paper said Trump launched the strike "to establish his authority as the US president".

Speculation of an imminent nuclear test is brewing as the North marks anniversaries including the 105th birthday of its founding leader on Saturday - sometimes celebrated with a demonstration of military might.

Days before the summit, Trump warned that the United States was prepared to act unilaterally to stop North Korea's nuclear program from advancing further should China be unwilling to use its leverage over Pyongyang.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Trump and Xi agreed on the "urgency of the threat of North Korea's nuclear weapons program" and agreed to work together to resolve the issue "peacefully". When the group left Singapore on Saturday, it was bound for Australia before receiving the new orders.

By contrast, on Tuesday the USA -led command carried out twice as many strikes in Syria against the Islamic State, and against a broader array of targets.

"Some forces are loud-mouthed that the recent USA military attack on Syria is an action of warning us but we are not frightened by it", the report said, adding that the North's "tremendous military muscle with a nuclear force as its pivot" will foil any aggression by the U.S.

Tensions have been higher than usual because the annual war games between the US and South Korean militaries are underway.

North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the sea off the Korean Peninsula earlier this week, the latest in a series of recent test firings. In response, President Donald Trump tweeted: "It won't happen!"

Authorities estimated that the woman is between 16 and 30 year old. "We're in the mountains", resident Karen Renwick explained. She said her name was Joanna, but didn't know how she wound up in Fresno, walking naked down a busy street at 3 in the morning.

Chinese officials had feared that the two leaders' 24-hour encounter at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida might be marred by a campaign-style anti-China outburst from Mr Trump.

North Korea vowed to bolster its defenses to protect itself against airstrikes similar to the ones President Donald Trump ordered on Friday against a Syrian airbase.

North Korea's nuclear capabilities have moved to the top of the US's foreign policy agenda, amid concerns that Kim Jong- Un is developing nuclear technology that could enable missiles to hit the US.

The North has conventional artillery massed on its side of the demilitarized zone that bisects the Korean Peninsula, giving it the capacity to inflict serious damage on greater Seoul, a metropolitan area of 20 million people that lies just 30 miles south of the DMZ.

"This coordinated initiative could force North Korea to make real demilitarization concessions, while providing a win for both China and the United States", Markey wrote, adding that China has unsuccessfully urged the USA to engage North Korea directly for years.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the USA missile strikes against a Syrian air base in retaliation for a chemical weapon attack carry a message for any country seen as operating outside global norms.

"Presidents before and President Trump agreed that that is unacceptable, that what must happen is the denuclearisation of the peninsula", US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster told Fox News on Sunday.
