Two Detroit cops wounded by shotgun blast, one critical

One of them was critically injured.

One officer was shot and another officer was injured Sunday while responding to reports of a burglary.

- A Detroit Police Officer was shot in the face by a 19-year-old who police say was protecting his home from what he thought was a burglar.

As the two approached the house's front door, a shot rang out, hitting one officer in the face, and the other in the arm.

The other officer suffered a shrapnel wound to his left arm and will be released from the hospital Monday, he said.

The Special Response Team responded to the home and arrested three individuals: a 14-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, and their mother, whose age was not immediately known.
