Indians pitchers combine to one-hit Royals

Mike Clevinger and four relievers combined for a one-hitter, leading the Cleveland Indians past the Kansas City Royals 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Royals wore 1942 Kansas City Monarchs replica uniforms and the Indians 1946 Cleveland Buckeyes unis in a salute to the Negro Leagues.

There's a certain buzz around the Kansas City Royals.

If the infield is back, a groundball up the middle will do the trick, but the hitter needs to lay off pitches he might send down the third-base line; hit the ball to the third baseman and the runner can't score.

Danny Duffy (2-3) held the Indians to one run and six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Whit Merrifield and Mike Moustakas led off the inning with singles, but Lorenzo Cain grounded into a double play.

Orioles 6, White Sox 5: Dylan Bundy pitched six effective innings to earn his fourth straight victory, Trey Mancini homered and drove in three runs, and Baltimore beat Chicago.

Now is as good a time as any to stop and say there are always exceptions; if the guy at the plate is a left-hander that can fly, a double play might be unlikely so the pitcher might go for the punchout or pop up instead. He allowed four runs and eight hits Sunday in a 12-4 win over Seattle. Left fielder Alex Gordon preserved the lead with a diving catch that saved two runs with two outs in the seventh. "Hopefully, I can get a little more consistent as we move forward".

Korea marks military anniversary with firing drill
Graham, a defense hawk who dined with Trump on Monday night, said North Korea should not underestimate the president's resolve. The nuclear-powered U.S. submarine USS Michigan made a port call at South Korea's Busan yesterday in another show of force.

Rookie Matt Strahm replaced Vargas and struck out Brandon Guyer with a 95 miles per hour fastball.

The Royals threatened in the first and third innings but came away empty. Soler, who was injured in spring training, hit.308 with a.538 slugging percentage in 11 rehab games with Triple-A Omaha.

Clevinger then applied the brakes by striking out Soler looking and Jorge Bonifacio swinging to maroon Hosmer. X-rays were negative, revealing a bruise. They recalled RHP Miguel Almonte from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he had a 1.85 ERA.

Now slated to enter his second season in the big leagues, the 26-year-old Clevinger previously made 17 regular season appearances alongside 10 starts for the eventual American League Champion Indians.

RHP Marcus Stroman (2-3, 3.89) will also look to even his win-loss record after unraveling for five runs in three innings to the Yankees on Tuesday.
