Killer identified in 2004 Sonoma Co. beach case

Jason Allen, 26, of MI, and Lindsay Cutshall, 22, of OH, were found on a secluded beach just as they were completing a California camping trip prior to their marriage.

On Aug. 13, 2004, Cutshall and Allen left the Rock-N-Water camp near Coloma, where they served as rafting and climbing leaders. Police do not think they had any connection with the suspect who was "well known to Sheriff's Office investigators", and never ruled out as a possible suspect.

Sheriff's officials in Sonoma County held a news conference Friday to discuss the case. He had "information about the killings that no other person could have known", the sheriff added.

Gallon was arrested in his brother's shooting death in March, and detectives made a decision to interview him about the Jenner shootings again, Freitas said.

He says they don't have the weapon, and they don't have a motive but they will continue to investigate and corroborate the information before seeking charges from the prosecutor. "Based on what detectives have been able to learn, we feel confident that we have Jason and Lindsay's killer in custody". Authorities believe they were asleep when they were fatally shot.

The rifle believed to be used in that shooting was found in the van.

Should Aaron Sanchez Have an Extended Break?
NOTES: Toronto RHP Aaron Sanchez (right middle finger blister) was placed on the disabled list for the second time this season. Estrada, 2-0 with a 3.12 ERA in four starts against the Yankees a year ago , allowed one run and seven hits in seven innings.

Authorities previously said neither was robbed or sexually assaulted in the incident.

"We are extremely pleased that our children's murderer is in custody where he belongs". We praise the Lord for his capture, and we trust the due process of the law.

"We have received over 1,200 tips on this case and have worked tirelessly", the sheriff went on to say. The combination of their humanity and professionalism would not allow them to give up on this case. "You are true heroes, and we thank God for you".

That was until earlier this spring, when police in Sonoma County arrested Shaun Gallon for the unrelated death of his brother this March, Freitas said.

Freitas says his department will present a report to the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office soon.

The parents' statement also offered prayers for the suspect "who heartlessly committed this crime" and for the people around the 140-resident coastal town of Jenner, who had described themselves as haunted by the case.
