New FBI director imminent

When Holt asked Trump whether he'd asked Rosenstein for his recommendation the day before firing Comey, Trump replied: "What I did was, I was going to fire". "I think as well our institutions are under assault internally".

The president is reported to have asked Mr Comey whether he could be loyal to him during a dinner meeting in February shortly after his inauguration.

President Donald Trump fired Comey on May 9, two days before Comey was to testify before Warner's committee, citing frustrations with the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's conduct.

Schumer later had a message for the Trump administration: "The people in the White House have an obligation - if they know something is false, not to say it". John Cornyn of Texas, explaining that "these are not normal circumstances".

Rogers, an ex-FBI agent and former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has drawn the backing of the FBI Agents Association. Cornyn was elected to the Senate in 2002 and also sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee. He is Senate majority whip, making him the second-ranking Republican in the chamber.

"I know they work for the president, I know they're supposed to be loyal, but they don't have to say things if they know that they're deliberately false". If the current administration did make tapes, Senate Democratic leader Charles Schumer told CNN on Sunday, "the president should turn them over immediately, of course". In a separate appearance on NBC, he argued that it is important for the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor in the case because such a person would have "the ability to actually prosecute people for violations of law".

In these circumstances, the U.S. may find it hard to sell its version of good governance based on democracy to the folks in what it considers as banana republics.

After Trump made a decision to fire Comey, he was told by aides that Democrats would likely react positively to the news, given the role many believe Comey played in Hillary Clinton's defeat a year ago. "Nearly all of them are very well known", Trump said while flying to Lynchburg, Virginia, where he was giving the commencement address at Liberty University.

When Pirro asked whether it was "the wrong time" to fire Comey, Trump defended Tuesday's course of action. The move prompted an uproar among Democrats and some Republicans because Comey's agency is leading an investigation into whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation in that country's attempts to interfere with the USA presidential election past year.

Tunnel collapses at U.S. nuclear waste facility
The area contains about 56 million gallons (211.98 million liters) of radioactive waste, most of it in 177 underground tanks. The tunnels are hundreds of feet long, with about eight feet (2.4 meters) of soil covering them, the agency said.

"I've been trying to avoid talking about impeachment of the president", wrote Bloomberg View columnist Jonathan Bernstein on Friday, "but Thursday's events-in which the president nearly bragged about obstructing justice in firing FBI Director James Comey-make it hard to avoid". President Donald Trump is considering more than a dozen candidates- including several lawmakers, attorneys, and law enforcement officials.

- Adam Lee, special agent in charge of the FBI's office in Richmond, Virginia.

Former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., who chaired the House Intelligence Committee while in Congress, also met with Sessions and Rosenstein.

- Michael J. Garcia, a former prosecutor and associate judge on New York's highest court.

First, the White House said Trump fired Comey because the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended it.

- Frances Townsend, a former Bush homeland security and counterterrorism adviser.

An incomplete list of the things he has lied about include: Barack Obama's birthplace, Obama's phone "tap", John F. Kennedy's assassination, September 11, the Iraq War, ISIS, NATO, military veterans, Mexican immigrants, Muslim immigrants, anti-Semitic attacks, the unemployment rate, the murder rate, the Electoral College, voter fraud, the size of his inaugural crowd, his health care bill and his own groping of women.

"The attorney general was supposed to have recused himself from anything involving Russian Federation, and here he is, recommending the firing of the top cop doing the Russian Federation investigation, in clear violation of what he, the attorney general, had committed to doing".
