Tornadoes in Wisconsin, Oklahoma leave 2 dead

At least 25 other people were injured when a storm Tuesday leveled the Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Park near Chetek, Wisconsin, about 110 miles (180 kilometers) northeast of Minneapolis.

Rice Lake and Chetek sirens blared at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday as the sky turned dark and green.

Meteorologists said eight suspected tornadoes are believed to have touched down in western Oklahoma, killing a man and destroying at least 40 homes.

Barron County emergency management officials say donations of durable goods can be made beginning Sunday. There's a whole row where there should be trailers but there's nothing but debris. Many of his neighbors in the trailer park weren't so fortunate.

"A few trailers on the perimeter are still standing, but everything in the middle is completely gone", Chetek police Officer Cody Stauner told the Leader-Telegram. Remarkably, they were OK.

Black said a huge oak tree fell on top of all three of his cars.

Barton County spokeswoman Donna Zimmerman said the tornado that formed near Pawnee Rock remained on the ground for up to 15 miles before dissipating. He told the Eau Claire newspaper the Prairie Lakes Estates trailer park is a mess and they were still searching Tuesday night. "It's pretty bad. We have at least one deceased so far and we're still in a search pattern". Also, a tornado struck a rural area in western Oklahoma, leaving damage in its wake but no immediate reports of injuries.

Bynum, 48, said he was doing what many people do when the weather picks up: watching it in his yard. "We're putting that list together". They also removed pets. An infant that was rescued, was conscious and alert at the time, Fitzgerald said.

The emergency shelter was set up at Mosaic Telecom.

"My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tornado in Elk City tonight", Oklahoma Gov. He says her sister also had her 2-month-old grandson, Nolan, in the house when the storm hit.

Unlike Tuesday, the storms will erupt early in the afternoon, rather than hold off until the end of the day.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said, "If you are a logger or a truck driver and want to help, just call your neighbors, call your friends... that's what Barron county is all about".

Mark Tyson and his wife Robin were huddled behind a living room chair when the storm hit.

"We'll take any walk-up volunteers willing to help", Porter said.

Tyson was hanging around the fringes of the trailer park hoping authorities would let him back in to check on his property and, hopefully, find some clothes.

"I've lived in Oklahoma nearly 50 years", he said.

Much of the damage is at the Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Home Park in Cameron. This is what's left of a turkey barn. We are sending fire departments into these neighborhoods.

Several tornado warnings were issued as severe thunderstorms moved east across western Wisconsin and northern Wisconsin as the night went on.
