Trump's Attack on CNN International 'Emboldens' Hostile Foreign Governments — CNN's Clarissa Ward

As of Saturday evening, the site was unavailable due to technical difficulties.

President Trump lamented CNN's global viewership Saturday and suggested that Fox News more accurately covers USA current events.

"The outside world does not see the truth about them", he said.

Within a few hours of the bill's signing, Stelter noted, Trump singled out CNN International, possibly as a way to signal to Putin to "crack down" on the news organization.

Trump has repeatedly castigated CNN, claiming they are "fake news".

Communications, though, was like "you tryna read, sis?!" and clapped all the way back, pointing out that *cough cough* it's Donald Trump's job to represent the the world, not theirs. "That's yours. Our job is to report the news", adding "#FactsFirst".

UPDATE with additional reactions President Donald Trump's disparagement of CNN International yesterday might not have been just his usual anti-media disdain, says CNN's Brian Stelter. While the president regularly dismisses their work as "fake", it's anything but.

The latest example came on Sunday when Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesman for Egypt's foreign affairs ministry, called CNN "deplorable" for its follow-up coverage of the mosque attack in Sinai on Friday, when 305 people were killed and 128 wounded by militants.

As former FBI Director James Comey reminds us, freedom of the press has always been an important part of American democracy.

"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that can not be limited without being lost".

Trump has also been critical of the proposed merger of telecommunications giant AT&T and media company Time Warner, which owns CNN, calling it last week "a deal that's not good for the country". Some see the move as an effort to hand the network over to a conservative buyer, like Rupert Murdoch. But this time, CNN shut him down brutally.

The president went on the attack again against CNN, and it seems to have backfired!

Joe Scarborough ignored the president's message and instead thanked CNN for sending the message that America "still has a vibrant, free press". Courts have held Trump's tweets are admissible and subject to scrutiny, and show animus.

Left out of his challenge: Fox News, the network most likely to have favorable news coverage of his administration.
